‘Do-It-Yourself’ Brain Health – A New Fitness Revolution

I’m writing a brand new song . It’s called
“ Oh dear.. I’ve lost my car-keys again”
                              or
“ I don’t want to go GaGa – do you?”
I’ll get it finished when I can find where I put the manuscript!

Hey, I’m not making light of forgetfulness or any other sign of mental aging – I just feel a whole new open approach to brain health is badly needed.  An approach that ordinary people like you and I can understand and use.

I’m calling the new approach “DIY Brain Health” (Do-It- Yourself Brain Health). Okay, I know you’re already thinking…
“I don’t like the sound of that DIY stuff – I mean the brain is very complex, shrouded in mystery and hidden behind long words that are virtually impossible to pronounce let alone understand. So… how’s little old-me going to look after my brain – I think I’d rather leave it to the experts”

Well, have I got a surprise for you… that’s exactly what I want you to do! Why… because YOU ARE THE EXPERT!

In fact, as you’ll discover in later posts, you are much more capable of keeping your brain fit and healthy for life than any white-coated Ph.D researcher or specialist or anyone else for that matter.

I guess you’re thinking I must be some sort of raving lunatic to be making such apparently outrageous statements. I may be 70 and live in Australia but I don’t think that qualifies me as a lunatic, although some might disagree!

In fact, I’ll say it again… “You already know how to keep your brain fit and healthy for life” – the reason you’re not into DIY brain health is that no-one has told you how. Think about that for a second and you’ll probably work out why it’s been kept a secret.

And you know what… you can start applying the DIY approach at any age and it won’t cost you a single cent!

In my next post I’ll go into more detail on the DIY approach and describe a very simple exercise that I use which I think will demonstrate just a small fraction of the awesome power we all have available.
